Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) reaffirmed, this Wednesday morning (3), that he has not been vaccinated against Covid-19 and that he has nothing to hide about his vaccination card. The statement was given shortly after the Federal Police carried out search and seizure warrants at the house where he has been living in Brasília since returning from his trip to the United States.
Bolsonaro was one of the targets of Operation Venire, which investigates a group suspected of entering false vaccination data against Covid-19 into the Ministry of Health’s systems. The former president, however, said he was “surprised by the search and seizure” at his house, and that the operation against a former president took place “to create a fact”.
He also said that former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro was vaccinated in 2021 in the United States with a dose of Jansen’s vaccine, but that her daughter Laura was not immunized. The statement was confirmed by her by the social media soon after.
“We learned from the press that the reason was ‘falsification of the vaccine card’ for my husband and our daughter Laura. In my house, only I was vaccinated”, emphasized Michelle.
Still at home, Bolsonaro said that “nowhere” they asked him for a vaccination card, and that “there is no tampering on my part”. The former president had his cell phone seized by the Federal Police, which was handed over without a password to be accessed by the authorities.
“I have nothing to hide about anything, it’s not just card. Now, how nice if we had a democratic country where you could discuss all matters. There are subjects that are forbidden to talk about in Brazil, one of them is the vaccine ”, she added.
Bolsonaro also said that he was pressured to take the vaccine against Covid, but that he decided not to immunize himself after reading the package leaflet for the Pfizer dose.
