Former president Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) lawyer, Paulo Cunha Bueno, said that the former president has no relationship “with any type of conspiracy” involving Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES). Bolsonaro was summoned to give testimony to the PF (Federal Police) in the investigation that investigates the senator’s statements about an alleged attempted coup d’état.
“The president has always been completely available for any summons and will continue to be available whenever he is summoned. It’s a simple testimonial. […] So we don’t have any concerns about the content and any inquiries that may be made tomorrow”, declared the lawyer at a press conference this Tuesday (11).
The hearing this Wednesday (12) was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), on June 16. With a new statement, the president has already accumulated four hearings with the Federal Policy (PF).
The first was on April 5, in the case of jewelry received as a gift from Saudi Arabia. The second took place on the 26th of the same month, having as its theme the acts of January 8th. The third was held on May 16, which sought to investigate alleged fraud in its vaccine card.
Marcos do Vale case
The senator, who is away after asking for leave, is the subject of an investigation that investigates attempts to disrupt investigations against the former president. According to the indictment, Do Val would have tried to involve STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes in a situation that would prevent him from acting in the investigations into the attacks on the headquarters of the Three Powers.
In February, the senator reaffirmed to the press the existence of an alleged plan by Bolsonaro to seize power. However, a day later, do Val backed down and cleared the former president of responsibility for the alleged attempt.
