Bolsonarist deputy proposes charging tuition at public universities in SP – 08/18/2023 – Panel

Bolsonarist state deputy Lucas Bove (PL) presented a bill that, if sanctioned by the Government of São Paulo, will charge tuition from students of public universities in the state. In this case, the value will be fixed by the educational institutions.
According to Bove, the portion should be applied according to the socioeconomic profile of the students.
Thus, there will be a scale: students with a monthly per capita family income of more than ten minimum wages would pay the monthly fee in full, while those with a monthly per capita income of four minimum wages or less would be exempt.
The collection should be reverted to higher schools. “[A proposta] aims only to ensure greater equity and justice between those who can contribute to the education they will receive and those who cannot,” said Bove.
