The Military Fire Department of Santa Catarina (CBM-SC) found this Thursday (23) the body of Brian Grandi, 20 years old, on the edge of Praia Azul, in Passo de Torres (SC). The young man had been missing since Monday morning (20), after the fall of a pedestrian bridge, which is over the Mampituba River and connects the cities of Torres (RS) and Passo de Torres (SC). The causes that led to the collapse of the bridge are still being investigated by the Civil Police, reported Folha de S. Paulo.

The bridge served only for pedestrians, was 30 meters long and was supported by cables. According to the Torres city hall, about 100 people were passing through it at the time of the accident, despite a sign informing that the capacity was for only 20. They were returning on foot from Passo de Torres to Torres after a Carnival party.

In a note, the city hall of Passo de Torres (SC) expressed “deep regret for the tragic and early loss of young Brian dos Santos Grandi, aged 20”. “Mayor Valmir Augusto Rodrigues decreed official three-day mourning, sympathizes with friends and family in this moment of pain, expressing the most sincere condolences”, says the note.
