Beer publisher, Krater closes operations and makes a sale – 03/15/2024 – Copo Cheio

The beer market suffers a major downturn with the news of the end of the Krater label, founded by Diego Masiero and Pedro Paranhos, after seven years of fundamental launches.

“We tried with all our might. Over the last year we formed a partnership with the publisher Letramento, from Belo Horizonte, a publisher with a greater distribution reach. But unfortunately we were unable to get sales to reach minimum levels again for us to hold an operation”, said Masiero in the publisher’s profile.

In a sector so lacking in reference works in Portuguese, Krater emerged as an eye-candy and was responsible for publications such as the “Guia da Sommelieria de Cervejas”, organized by Bia Amorim, and “Radical Brewing”, by the American Randy Mosher, which came to Brazil for the launch.

Now, the publisher’s website is holding a nightcap, a clearing of stock with books with up to 60% off. The “Guide”, by Bia Amorim, for example, is selling for R$66 (original price was R$165); “The History of British Beers”, by Martyn Cornell, went from R$80 to R$32; or “The Evolution of Beer in 50 Styles”, by Natalya Watson, which costs half the price, R$85 for R$42.50.
