BBB24 unites Caprichoso and Garantido cattle in defense of Amazonian popular culture

Isabelle Nogueira, cunhã-poranga of Garantido, has been suffering attacks from participants for talking about Manaus and the Parintins Festival

Manaus (AM) – Traditionally rivals, the Caprichoso and Garantido oxen came together in defense of the Parintins Festival and the popular culture of Amazonas, this Saturday (13), by publishing on social media about the statements within BBB24, after participants criticized Isabelle Nogueira’s regionality, cunhã-poranga do Garantido.

“We are proudly the people of the Amazon, we wear the colors of our ox and make our party the identity that projects us to the world. We are a people with a lot of history, a beautiful culture, full of creativity, struggle and faith. We are the hands that make art! We are the Parintins Festival!”, praised Boi do Povão.

The Boi Negro de Parintins participated in the movement and declared: “Respect to the Parintins Festival! Respect to the People of Amazonas! Long live Popular Culture!”

In a significant moment for Boi-Bumbá culture, cunhã-poranga published two notes on X/Twitter, one in the color of Garantido and the other in Caprichoso, with the words “Sou Boi-Bumbá” and “Team Isabelle” , a term referring to cheering for the dancer.

The posts refer to the sequence of attacks that the Amazonian woman is receiving within BBB24. In conversation in the leader’s room, singer Rodriguinho and popcorn Nizam mocked Isabelle’s dances and speeches about the Parintins Festival and Amazonian culture. Check out the video:

Also this week, the pagodeiro called Isabelle “Indian” and “indiona”, in a pejorative way, later, the dancer explained that the correct term is “indigenous” or “original people”.

Caprichoso’s sister-in-law, Marciele Albuquerque, used Instagram stories to take a stance on what happened. “Unfortunately, this is very common, often due to a lack of knowledge and interest in our society. And, sometimes, they also use it consciously, with the intention of diminishing and disdaining. Please use the correct term,” she declared.

Pajé Erick Beltrão, from Caprichoso, shared the publication of his ox and asked for respect for the Festival. “Respect our art, our culture, our history, our people. Respect our Festival. Respect the largest folklore event in the North of Brazil. I breathe this air called Boi-Bumbá,” he said.

The queen of Garantido folklore, Edilene Tavares, also used her Instagram profile to exalt Amazonian culture. “Being an Amazonian means embracing a deep love for the cultural roots that are intertwined in the engaging dance of the Boi Bumbá de Parintins, where the heart fills with pride when wearing the vibrant colors of the Boi Garantido,” she said.

“Living this tradition is more than a festive celebration; it is an intimate connection with Amazonian heritage, where each drum beat resonates like an echo of the stories told by ancestors. The pride of being Amazonian is intertwined with the exuberance of the show, reflecting the cultural richness and the passion for preserving the magic that makes Parintins unique. In every dance step, in every note of music, the love for the land and the honor of being part of this tradition that transcends time, filling the heart with joy and belonging, flourishes. Respect our Culture!!”, she concluded.

Not only were the Festival items that criticized the brothers’ speeches, the Bois fans came together to repudiate the attacks against Isabelle. Internet users also asked for respect for Amazonas and praised the Boi-Bumbá culture.
