This Tuesday (23), during the signing ceremony of an agreement between the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Armed Forces for the construction of a solar energy plant, the president of the Supreme Court, minister Luís Roberto Barroso, thanked the “graceful collaboration” of the Brazilian Army for the “pacification” of the country.
“With gracious contributions and collaboration, the Brazilian Army, today commanded by General Tomás Paiva, acts with great efficiency, with great competence. A man who has managed to contribute to the pacification of the country, which is also a project of the Federal Supreme Court”, declared Barroso, stating that the STF and the military have “denominators” in common.
The agreement signed between the STF and the military aims to promote the exchange of knowledge to enable the development of projects related to the “implementation of environmental sustainability plans”. The agreement will be valid for 60 months.
The Army will contribute knowledge in the use of construction engineering methodologies and systems. The STF will contribute to the knowledge acquired in the area of sustainability, through the training of personnel on environmental legislation and standards related to sustainability.
According to Barroso, the agreement will contribute to “mitigating global warming through the use of clean and sustainable energy”.
“Climate change, global warming and carbon emissions are the great defining issues of our time. All countries are concerned about how to face them and prevent the Earth’s temperature from rising. And we, at the STF, are also sharing this concern”, stated Barroso.
