Deputy Josenildo Abrantes (PDT-AP) expects that, after the parliamentary recess, the bill that establishes a reduction in working hours for parents and guardians of autistic people will be included in the agenda of the Federal Chamber committees, and then soon arrive to the plenary, for voting, and subsequently forwarded to the Senate of the Republic for consideration.
The bill is authored by Deputy Josenildo Abrantes himself, who has autism spectrum disorder as one of the priorities of his mandate. The parliamentarian gave statements on the subject on the morning of this Saturday, June 24th, on the program ‘Togas and Gowns’ (Radio Diário FM 90.9).
Josenildo recalled that he took the initiative for the law inspired by a project by the then state deputy Marília Góes, within the scope of Amapá, sanctioned by the government, establishing a reduction in the working hours of public servants who are parents or guardians of autistic people, so that they have more time to accompany them. The work in question, if approved, will be valid nationwide
The federal deputy’s initiative also weighed heavily, he said on the radio program, the manifestation of a judge from Maranhão, who, during the judgment of a request by a judge from that state, father of an autistic person, to give him authorization to exercise the office at home, via online, to be able to stay close to the sprout.
The judge, named Raimundo Bogea, after saying that anyone who has a child with an autistic spectrum disorder should not look for a job or take a public service exam, noted the following in his vote: “I even think that in this contest it should already be evaluated whether the judge, when he makes the contest, has a child with a problem. […] We are already too privileged to the detriment of the user of the public service”
Josenildo Abrantes clarified that the bill that has already been filed for processing in the Lower House provides for a reduction in working hours not only for public servants who are parents or guardians of autistic children, but also for employees of private companies.
