Parliamentarians and influential personalities who support Jair Bolsonaro (PL) started a mobilization to request contributions via Pix to the former president this Friday (23). The reason is what they call “judicial harassment” around Bolsonaro, which accumulates fines from various processes in which he was the target.
Federal deputies Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), Mário Frias (PL-SP), Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO) and André Fernandes (PL-CE) and state deputy Bruno Engler (PL-MG) joined the campaign and made publications on social networks asking for the help of Bolsonaro supporters. They requested that contributions be sent by Pix.
Fabio Wajngarten, former head of the Presidency’s Communication Secretariat, tweeted confirming that the Pix released by parliamentarians belongs to Bolsonaro. “In view of the numerous questions we received, in order to eliminate any doubt and remove opportunists, data from the PR follow”, he said, before sending Bolsonaro’s account number.
The former president lives today from his retirements from the Army and from the Chamber of Deputies (Bolsonaro spent 27 years in the position of deputy, between 1991 and 2018) and from a salary he receives as president of honor of the PL, of almost R$ 40 thousand . In total, her monthly income is around R$ 80 thousand.
Because of the accumulated fines, last week, the Justice of São Paulo blocked, in total, more than R$ 400,000 from the former president’s accounts. The decisions are related to non-compliance with health measures during the Covid-19 pandemic.
After the posts from supporters, some opponents of the former president made publications mocking the initiative. “It’s not enough for all the evil he’s done, now he’s going to hit the PIX, he’s the ‘Urubu do PIX’ extreme right version”, said federal deputy André Janones (PT-BA).
