Athletico 100 years: Deivid Coquinho, the worker

In Brazil at the beginning of the 20th century, close to the date of Athletico’s founding, every Brazilian middle-class home had a piano. In society at the time, most gifted girls played the piano and when they got married they took it as a dowry to their new homes, as they could serve as a financial asset in difficult times.

To circulate the expensive and, let’s say, non-portable instrument, the profession of “piano carriers” emerged: groups of strong, well-disposed men who made the pianos reach the stages and halls so that the artists could shine.

Soon the expression migrated to the lexicon of the incipient Brazilian football to define hard-working players, workers, those who do not appear in front of the fans, but who are indispensable for the functioning of a team.

This entire preamble to talk about the last great piano charger in the history of Furacão, the steering wheel David “Coconut”, who for 13 years, between the base and the professional team, ran marathons and did the dirty work at the head of the area to help CAP.

Born in Londrina, Deivid Willian da Silva He arrived at Athletico in 2005, coming like many highlights of the season from PSTC’s youth teams. He only left Furacão in 2018, a little before the club’s cup cycle, but in time to win two regional titles in 2016 and 2018. In total, there were 291 games and six goals scored, in addition to countless tackles, steals, yellow cards , tactical fouls and blocked shots.
