Arrested by 8/1 with comorbidities is taken to hospital after risk of embolism

Colonel Jorge Eduardo Naime, former commander of the Operations Department of the Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF), fell ill this Monday (4) and was taken to the hospital again. He has been in prison since February 7th for alleged failure to contain the acts of January 8th. This is the third time in less than a week that the soldier has needed to receive medical attention.

On social media, the colonel’s wife, Mariana Adôrno Naime, stated that he was taken to the hospital with “severe chest pains”. The soldier also felt ill on the 28th and on Friday (1st). Last week, the medical team detected a thrombus in the cephalic vein, in the biceps region, reported the Veja magazine. According to Mariana, “the pain has evolved and there is a risk that the thrombus has moved”, causing a risk of embolism.

The colonel has hypertension and diabetes. She stated that Naime has been suffering from “numbness in her arms and feet”, “a lot of headache” and “vomiting”. Furthermore, on July 13th, he had a drop in blood pressure and, when he fell, he tried to lean on a cabinet, which ended up falling on him, which led to him being taken to the hospital. On July 24, Naime needed medical attention again, but did not need to be taken to the hospital.

On November 28, Mariana stated that the death of Cleriston Pereira at the Papuda Penitentiary Complex also left her family worried. Cleriston was in prison accused of involvement in acts of vandalism and died on the 20th after having a “sudden illness”. The businessman also had comorbidities, like Naime, and was taking medication for diabetes and hypertension.

“This makes me extremely desperate, because last week Cleriston died, we saw that the report [de comorbidades] Cleriston’s is the same as his [Naime], which is due to hypertension, diabetes… What guarantees that Naime doesn’t also have a heart attack, a stroke?”, asked the colonel’s wife. “We are asking for help so that he can be released and receive dignified treatment,” she added.

Even though he was on vacation on the date of the acts of vandalism, Colonel Naime left his residence to help contain the acts of vandalism on January 8th. During the police action, the soldier was injured by a firecracker. Mariana reported that Naime has lost 16 kilos since his arrest and his case has not progressed, despite requests for release already made by the defense.
