The Arena da Amazônia Vivaldo Lima hosted this Thursday (8) the clash between Vasco and Audax for the seventh round of the 2024 Carioca Championship. The dispute, which had the support of the Government of Amazonas through the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel), ended with a score of 1-0, registering an audience of 21,995 people and an income of R$2,931,940.

“The Government of Amazonas, through Sedel, once again delivers the Arena ready for a major event, Vasco and Audax valid for the Carioca Championship, remembering that we have also had Flamengo and Audax, but also games from the Amazonense Championship, that is, the structure of the State Government, which has been investing in stadiums, has prepared this year for sport, this is the year of sport”, highlighted Jorge Oliveira, secretary of Sedel.

With a single goal in the match, scored by David Corrêa, Vasco da Gama delighted the Amazonian fans at the Arena da Amazônia. A resident of the São Jorge neighborhood, Marcelo Serrão brought his two children to watch the match and visit the World Cup stadium.

“The importance of encouraging my children to play sports is very important. Bringing them to see a team that I have supported since I was a child, being able to get together and share their first time at Arena da Amazônia is a very important moment not only for them, but for me too”, highlighted Marcelo Serrão, Vasco fan.

The last time the club played at Arena da Amazônia was in 2022, against Guarani, in Series B. The Rio team was also present at the Arena in other championships, such as: Taça Guanabara and Carioca Semifinal in 2016 and Campeonato Brasileiro in 2019 , the match marked Vasco’s return to the Amazonian capital after two years.

Stage of the World Cup, the stadium hosts its second game valid for the 2024 Carioca Championship. The first was in January, between Flamengo and Audax, with more than 40 thousand fans present, the dispute marked the opening of the game season at the Arena da Amazon.
