Football player Antony, 23, spoke for the first time after being recalled from the Brazilian national team due to accusations of domestic violence made by his ex-girlfriend, DJ and influencer Gabriela Cavallin, 22. To Fofocalizando (SBT), he denied having assaulted Gabriela physically, said that the two lived in a “very turbulent relationship” and claimed that the prints of messages presented by her were altered.

Antony contested photos and audios presented by the prosecution and released by UOL on Monday (4). He said that his ex-girlfriend would have taken his cell phone and sent messages to her own cell phone, as if it were Antony writing.

One of the prints attached by the prosecution to the investigation shows the attacker angry that she had liked photos on social media of Neymar with his friend Gil Cebola. “Look, there was one time she took my cell phone and sent a message about it. As if it were me”, said Antony about the content. “Also because I have a very good relationship with Neymar.”

The player also alleged changes to the prints presented by his ex-girlfriend. “She sends a message and deletes a sentence I sent, she just leaves a word there that I wrote,” she said. “She manipulated the messages and I have proof of all of this.” Antony said that his legal team will present a technical opinion to the Court that proves the changes.

The attacker did not deny feeling jealous of Gabriela and said that there was an exchange of insults. “She was often aggressive with me. She called me names. And as I said, on both sides. She offended me and I offended her too. She called me a son of a bitch… She called me trash. It was an exchange of bad words there. which, of course, is not right”, he said.

He confirmed having said “I hope you die” in one of the conversations, but denied any episodes of physical violence. The attacker countered the accusation of having head-butted her during a fight: “she got upset, broke a glass, broke a plate, came at me. At that moment, I held her. But I didn’t get to grips. At no point did I hit her. headbutt her.”

Antony denied punching Gabriela’s breasts, which, according to her, would have caused the silicone prosthesis to tip over. The player contested the statement saying that, since 2020, Gabriela had already been diagnosed with rotation of the prosthesis.

He also said he never threw a glass in his ex-girlfriend’s face. “She was drinking a lot and I asked her to stop drinking,” she reported. Antony claimed to have tried to take the cup out of her hand, which caused a bruise on her finger, a photo of which was attached to the investigation.

The player said that domestic violence is “100% wrong”. “I have a mother, I have a sister and I would never want them to do this to them,” he said.

Antony cried at only one moment of the interview: when talking about his professional future. He said he doesn’t think his football career is over. “I came from nothing, I went through a lot of difficulties and I’m living one of the most difficult moments of my life, being accused of something I didn’t do.”

Manchester United, the team he plays for in England, said this Wednesday (6), in a statement, that it takes the investigation into the Brazilian “very seriously”.

Gabriela Cavallin’s defense, in a statement, said that “it trusts in the serious and competent investigation by the São Paulo Civil Police, and also by the Manchester police, in the United Kingdom, and hopes that, once concluded, the attacker will be prosecuted and punished for the crimes he committed.”
