Ana Moser: Hortência and Raí express support for the minister – 07/12/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

The Minister of Sports, Ana Moser, received important names in Brazilian sports in her office this Wednesday (12). Representatives of the Athletes Commission of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (Cacob), such as former basketball player Hortência Marcari, and of the Atletas pelo Brasil organization, such as former soccer player Raí, met with the head of the portfolio to express support for her management and get to know closely the projects headed by her.

According to participants at the meeting, the proposal dealing with labor relations for athletes and the National Sports System were among the main subjects of the conversation.

Athletes Ana Mesquita, Érika Coimbra, Estevão Lopes, Rafael Lane and Yane Marques were also present at the meeting. The meeting took place at a time when the minister sees her permanence in office threatened by the centrão, who claims command of the portfolio from the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

This Wednesday, all athletes who participated in the meeting pledged to continue supporting Moser’s management project.

As the column showed, the minister’s assistants have been surprised by the way in which the head of the portfolio has dealt with speculation about a ministerial change.

Shaken by the possibility, they have been encouraged by the former athlete herself not to give up and to continue the work of expanding access to the sport in the country.

According to reports made to the column, Moser has not been downcast, but rather strong and haughty.

People close to the minister look to the sport itself for an explanation for her behavior: an assistant recalls that she was once a high-performance athlete and, therefore, knows how to “enter the court” willing to win the game even under boos from the opposing crowd.
