Presenter reveals new venture with the cultivation of organic coffee. Property with 376 hectares in the interior of São Paulo also has eucalyptus plantations and various fruits and vegetables, in addition to raising beef and dairy cattle. Ana Maria Braga opens the doors of her farm and says that the place is her childhood dream. Globo morning presenter and with more than 30 million followers on social media, Ana Maria Braga’s facets are diverse. One of them is Ana Maria, a farmer. Ana Maria dreamed of having a farm as a child. The only child of a modest family, she was born and raised in São Joaquim da Barra, north of São Paulo. Today, she owns a 376-hectare property, which is located on the Castelo Branco highway, in Bofete. The presenter’s endeavors in the field are diverse: she has around 40 head of beef and dairy cattle; has a chicken coop – with free eggs for employees and neighbors; grows eucalyptus for wood production; organic coffee plant; produces various fruits, such as atemoya, tangerine, orange, persimmon, seriguela, papaya, carambola, guava, pitanga, pitaya, mango, dragon’s eye, passion fruit, annatto, among others; cultivates an organic vegetable garden, planting cabbage, mint, ora-pro-nóbis, leeks, pepper, and various seasonings. From eucalyptus to coffee When she bought the farm, Ana Maria was convinced that she would earn more money with elite cattle. She invested, implemented, and even participated in auctions. But the project was no longer going well when the “Mais Você” program was transferred to the glass studio in Rio de Janeiro. It was then that she decided to invest in eucalyptus trees, which today occupy almost 100 hectares of the farm. Where there used to be pasture, there is now a commercial forest. The venture is the result of a partnership that the presenter made with a company in the industrial wood sector, which does everything, from planting to harvesting and even road maintenance. But now, Ana Maria wants to exchange eucalyptus for coffee. This is because, despite all the benefits, wood cutting only happens every 7 years and is not that profitable. For now, the planting is a one-hectare experiment among eucalyptus plantations, to see if it works. The idea is to produce organic coffee, which, according to Ana Maria, has grown in consumer acceptance and has the best sales prices. Faith and longing Ana Maria Braga shows the chapel of Our Lady of Fátima, with more than 400 images On the property, Ana Maria Braga ordered the construction of a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Fátima. The farmer reports that the reason the chapel is dedicated to the Saint is that, when she had cancer for the first time, 24 years ago, presenter Hebe Camargo and her friend Paulo Machado took an image of Our Lady of Fátima to keep her company at the hospital . “I was facing a moment, in addition to being very painful, where, suddenly, you might not make it out of this journey alive,” she says. In the chapel, next to the patron saint, there are another 400 images of saints – and even a Buddha. Most of the pieces were sent by friends and fans. Ana has been cured many times. In addition to the illness, four broken marriages and the premature death of Tom Veiga, interpreter of Louro José. “I lost a son, it was very difficult. I haven’t gotten over it yet. Every day I pray for him, I miss him”, she says. The secret ingredient For Ana Maria, the secret ingredient to her success in the kitchen and on television is “social consideration”. She reports that since her first day on television, she was constantly concerned about talking to everyone: those who receive a minimum wage, the unemployed and the middle class. And to achieve this, she established a rule that her recipes can have a maximum of 4 fundamental ingredients. “If not, there’s no way, it becomes a recipe that people can’t buy,” she says.
