Remember famous couples who ended relationships this year

The year 2023 was marked by a series of marriage endings between celebrities that caught the attention of fans. Couples ranging from the world of music to sports announced the end of their relationship.

Remember some endings that marked the year:

Sandy and Lucas Lima

After 24 years together, Sandy and Lucas Lima announced the end of their marriage on social media in September this year. They are parents to 9-year-old Theo.

“It was not an easy decision, nor an impulsive one. There were practically 24 years of relationship and 15 years of marriage. With ups and downs, sometimes happier, sometimes less, but always whole and willing to do our best. And we did”, according to the note published on Instagram.

Preta Gil and Rodrigo Godoy

The separation between Preta Gil and Rodrigo Godoy was one of the most controversial of 2023. This is because a video in which Rodrigo appeared hugging an employee of the singer’s team circulated on social media in April. The records were released shortly after Preta announced that she was suffering from cancer.

On her Twitter, the artist confirmed that the couple’s separation took place before the discovery of the betrayal by the personal trainer – and that she chose “to be alone rather than in bad company”.

Lexa and MC Guimê

Months after all the controversy caused at BBB 23, and after resuming her marriage with MC Guimê, singer Lexa announced in September that she had separated again from the funk singer.

Through her Instagram, Lexa published a message to inform her followers. “Hey guys. Guimê and I are no longer together. We tried, but decided to go our separate ways. Out of respect for the fans, I am speaking out,” she said. She also stated that she will no longer speak about the matter.

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello

One of the most impactful endings in global terms was that between actors Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello. After 7 years of marriage, the two announced their separation on June 17th.

Joe filed for divorce on July 26, citing irreconcilable differences. Demanding the maintenance of her fortunes, including jewelry, works of art and personal objects, Sofia Vergara responded to the lawsuit by triggering the previously established agreement. The actress also cited the same reason as the reason for ending the relationship.

Luísa Sonza and Chico Moedas

Singer Luísa Sonza announced in September the end of her relationship with Chico Moedas, to whom she dedicated a song on her new album, titled “Escândalo Íntimo”, after an alleged betrayal.

During a live interview on TV Globo’s “Mais Você” program, Sonza read a letter written that morning to talk about the end of their relationship. After the program and its repercussions, Chico deleted his Instagram account.

Sabrina Sato and Duda Nagle

The presenter and the actor ended their 7-year marriage on March 21st. Sabrina and Duda met in 2016 and, soon after, they started living together. In January 2018, they got engaged and, in the same year, they announced that they were expecting a baby. The two are parents to four-year-old Zoe.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are keeping their two young children in New York for now as part of a temporary plea deal filed in September, according to documents. The two stars are divorcing after four years of marriage.

Turner sued Jonas, seeking the return of his children to London. But a provisional consent order obtained by CNN and filed in New York shows that the actress and singer have reached a temporary agreement to keep their daughters, born in 2020 and 2022, in the United States.

Fábio Porchat and Nataly Mega

The comedian and the producer announced the end of their 5-year marriage in January this year. Porchat and Nataly got married in a ceremony in November 2017 at MAM (Museu de Arte Moderna), in Aterro do Flamengo. The ceremony was celebrated by philosopher Mario Sergio Cortella. One of the couple’s godparents was fellow comedian Paulo Vieira.

Justin Trudeau and Sophie Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie announced the end of their 18-year marriage in August.

Trudeau said that after “many meaningful and difficult conversations” with Sophie, “we have made the decision to separate.” Canada’s Prime Minister asked that his privacy be respected for the well-being of his three children.

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez

With the divorce process open since January, the end of the 2-year marriage between Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez was only made official months later. Together since 2020, the couple would have noticed the difference between the two after the pandemic ended.

According to “US Weekly”, the lives of the singer, who is a global celebrity, and the real estate agent from Los Angeles, in the United States, proved to be very different, and the two were unable to adapt.

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth

The marriage between actress Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth came to an end in March, after 12 years together. Reese confirmed the separation in an official statement on social media, signed by her and Toth.

The actress mentioned that they moved forward with lots of love and mutual respect, valuing everything they built together. After the divorce, she already had to deny that she was seeing Tom Brady, American football legend and ex-husband of Gisele Bündchen.
