Through social media, João Amoêdo criticized the election of deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) to preside over the Education Committee in the Chamber. According to Amoêdo, the deputy has no experience with the topic and “seeks relevance only through controversies”.

Nikolas’ appointment was criticized by government supporters and generated a clash between members of the collegiate.

In the vote on Wednesday (6), Nikolas received 22 votes out of a total of 37 – there were 15 blank votes. The occupants of the other positions (1st, 2nd and 3rd vice-presidencies) will be defined next week.

“PL’s choice of Nikolas Ferreira to chair the Chamber’s Education Committee, one of the main agendas for the country’s future, is a shame. Party leaders should pressure the PL to reverse this appointment and nominate a suitable name – and not a deputy with no experience with the issue and who seeks relevance only through controversies”, said Amoêdo in a post on social media, this Thursday (7).

When responding to Amoêdo, Nikolas recalled that “even without relevance”, the former president of Novo was a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic and was later expelled from the party. Co-founder of the Partido Novo, Amoêdo had his membership suspended after declaring support for Lula in the second round of the 2022 elections.

“You also had no experience, or even relevance to be president and you still ran for office. The only differences are: I was elected and I was not expelled from the party I founded”, wrote deputy Nikolas on his profile on the social network X.
