The Government of Amazonas, through the Amazonas State Tourism Company (Amazonastur), highlights important actions on how to avoid scams and fraud when searching for tickets, accommodation, tour guides, tours, among other activities in the sector.

To avoid losses, the institution advises interested travelers to look for establishments with the Cadastur seal, which is the Register of Tourist Service Providers (Cadastur) of the Ministry of Tourism (MTur). Every tour guide, accommodation provider, travel agency, tourist transport company, event organizer and theme park must have this registration. All registered and regular companies have the Cadastur seal.

In Amazonas, establishments and tourist service providers also join the “Hello, Tourist” campaign. Coordinated by Amazonastur, the initiative warns visitors about the risks of hiring irregular services.

In addition to contracting regular services and guaranteeing your own physical safety and that of your assets, it also ensures that the experience is conscious, respecting our Amazon forest”,

With the Cadastur number in hand, the tourist can check the registration status of the desired enterprise, through the official website of the Ministry of Tourism: The procedure is simple. Just click on the “I’m a Tourist” option and fill in the requested data.

Travel packages

Travel packages with tourist tours are also targets of scams. Therefore, before hiring these services, it is recommended to research the tours and the company that offers the service, searching comments and reviews on targeted websites. Always be skeptical of “too good to be true” promotions, check other companies with similar products and evaluate. When viewing photos on social media, read comments and reviews, posts, and do not click on links sent, as there are many fake profiles.

Attention is essential when making payment. The tourist is a consumer, and his rights are preserved. It is recommended that before purchasing, all payment fees are checked. Confirm the details of the bank slip, details of the contracted service such as the National Register of Legal Entities (CNPJ), details of the bank slip, name and date of payment. And when hiring the service, demand proof of payment.
