Law No. 6,663/2023, by deputies Rozenha (PMB), Comandante Dan (Podemos), Débora Menezes (PL), Dr. George Lins (UB), Joana Darc (UB) and João Luiz (Republicans), established the State Week of Violence Prevention and Safety Promotion in Schools, to be held exactly in the week that includes April 7th.

During the event, public policies to prevent and combat violence in schools should be intensified; such as prevention protocols and contingency plans, aimed at training education professionals; establish support networks for victims of violence, their families, as well as the educational institution where the incident occurred.

Cyberbullying also received attention from the State Parliament, and Law No. 5,826/2022, by deputy Felipe Souza (PRD), established actions to combat cyberbullying in state public schools.

Cyberbullying is understood as, in addition to being a branch of remote bullying, it is the trivial practice of offending, intimidating, embarrassing, threatening, discriminating and other similar acts, carried out against another individual through virtual means, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram , TikTok, Telegram, online games, X, among others.

“According to research carried out by the Ipsos Institute, in 2018, Brazil is the 2nd country with the most cases of cyberbullying in the world, behind only India”, highlights Souza, reinforcing that “we must work on prevention, so that we do not increase the number of cases of cyberbullying”.
Security in the school environment is addressed in Law No. 6,599/2023, authored by President Roberto Cidade (UB), aiming to inhibit the occurrence of crimes in the State’s public educational institutions.

“Establishing a safe school environment, in which students can attend classrooms and an environment conducive to learning is a desire and a constant concern”, points out Cidade.

The Law’s principles include preventing and combating situations of insecurity and school violence; the establishment of procedures and routines that contribute to resolving security problems identified by schools; the development of specific training programs in the area of ​​school security, aimed at school leaders, teachers, students and employees in general. It also includes monitoring and inhibiting the sale of illicit products or products that are prohibited from access by children and adolescents.

Law No. 6,524/2023, by deputy Mayra Dias (Avante) and signed by deputy Rozenha, created the Non-Violent Communication Week, held annually in public and private institutions and aimed at students in elementary, secondary and higher education in graduation. According to the text, educational institutions will be encouraged to promote educational and reflective activities aimed at disseminating the principles of “Non-Violent Communication”, according to the methodology and guidelines provided by the State Department of Education and School Sports (Seduc).

“We seek to disseminate the values ​​and practices of ‘Non-Violent Communication’ in educational institutions, providing students and educators with the opportunity to acquire essential skills to deal with their emotions, conflicts and relationships in a healthy and constructive way”, explained Mayra Dias .
