Amapaense wins world jiu-jitsu title in Abu Dhabi – News of Brazil

Amapá climbed to the highest place on the podium on Friday (10) at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi with 27-year-old Yuri Hendrix, in the black belt category up to 56kg. The fights took place at the Mubadala Arena.

The Amapá native beat Emirati Zayed Alkhateeri to climb to the top spot on the podium. After the double pull, while Zayed constantly turned to climb, Yuri took the opportunity to attack with his foot. Zayed responded with an attack of his own, but Yuri got up to the footlock and made it 3-0. Zayed made a good attempt at another attack with his foot and even earned a point for his effort, but Yuri controlled the rest of the fight and won the UFC belt. title of the category up to 56kg.

On his social networks, Yuri thanked everyone who supported him until the end. “I would like to thank everyone who took the time to wish me congratulations on winning the World Pro Abu Dhabi 2023 title. In addition to the title, Yuri was second in the world rankings in the Men’s Professional Black Belt Featherweight category (up to 62 kg) with 2,800 points.

Another Amapá native who competed in the competition was Marcos Froede, who was in fourth place in the ranking with 2,700 points, but was unable to reach the final in his category.
