Amapá wins Amputee Football North Northeast Cup title – News of Brazil

This weekend, the Amputee Football North-East Cup took place in Belém, and Amapá won the competition title and the right to represent the North region in the 2024 Copa do Brasil.

The team from Amapá played against ACEAB Belém and won on penalties. Amapá has 20 athletes, three with superior amputation (goalkeepers) and 17 with inferior amputation (players). Coach Matheus Henrique talks about winning the title.

“It is very gratifying to be here and to be champion. We won the long-awaited vacancy in the Copa do Brasil. I thank the Government of Amapá, Secretary Rudney Cunha, President Wilton Barros and all the supporters and sponsors who brought us here”he spoke.

The Amputee Football North-Northeast Cup brought together eight teams from six states: Camaçari and SSA Amput, from Bahia; Potiguar, from Rio Grande do Norte; Tuna Lusa, from Pará; Adesul, from Ceará; Piauí and Amapá, both from the states of the same name.
