Commitment of the parties to combating electoral corruption in the 2024 municipal election

The coordination of the Amazonas Committee to Combat Corruption (CACC) met this Tuesday (27) with the coordinator of electoral prosecutors, Mauro Veras, from the Public Ministry of Amazonas. The meeting highlighted the relevance of collaboration between the Public Electoral Ministry, civil society entities and the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) Amazonas Section, in holding transparent, clean elections with ethical candidates.

“The partnership between the Public Electoral Ministry and civil society is fundamental to promoting the integrity of the electoral process and combating illicit practices that compromise democracy”,

said the prosecutor, Mauro Veras.

Wilson Reis, president of the Union of Professional Journalists in Amazonas (Sinjor/Am) emphasized the importance of freedom of expression, stating: “Freedom of the press is essential for society. It guarantees transparency and supervision of political acts, contributing to the smoothness of the electoral process and the construction of a fairer and more democratic society.”

“The meeting was essential to reaffirm our commitment to clean elections, honest politicians and quality management”,

highlighted Cassius Clei, representative of OAB/AM. He highlighted the need to strengthen social conscience and value conscious voting to elect politicians committed to the well-being of society.

In addition to promoter Mauro Veras, representatives of civil society participated in the meeting, such as André Caria, president of the Regional Accounting Council – CRC/AM; Manoel Júnior, advisor to the Federal Accounting Council, Carlos Santiago, president of the OAB/AM Political Reform Commission, and lawyers Márcia Oliveira, Elcilene Rocha and Margareth Bruzago, from the Working Group (GT) to Combat Gender-based Political Violence .

At the end of the meeting, the parties’ commitment to combating electoral corruption in the 2024 municipal election was evident. In addition to highlighting the importance of mutual cooperation in defense of an event that also values ​​the conscious vote of each voter in the 62 municipalities in the State of Amazonas.
