International fund

Vice-governor Tadeu de Souza meets with representatives of a European fund and presents the state’s potential

Manaus (AM) – The Government of Amazonas began negotiations to receive international financing for agricultural activities with low carbon emissions, mainly in the interior of the state. Vice-governor Tadeu de Souza received, this Wednesday (21), in his office, directors of Abler Nordic, a public-private financial institution in Norway, to discuss future partnerships.

According to the deputy governor, the Wilson Lima Government’s environmental policies are in line with projects promoted by the Norwegian fund in other developing countries. The proposal is to offer rural producers financing lines for sustainable development initiatives and economic activities with low greenhouse gas emissions.

“This is a financing fund that wants to support operations within the Amazon and approached us to provide several lines of financing credits, mainly linked to carbon credit, development and expansion of production chains linked to forest assets. All of this ‘matches’ with actions already carried out by Idam, Sepror and Sema, for example, in Conservation Units”, said Tadeu de Souza.

Still according to the vice-governor, the international agenda fulfilled by governor Wilson Lima, presenting the potential of the state around the world, paves the way for more foreign institutions to direct investments to Amazonas. For Tadeu de Souza, international cooperation is essential for consolidating the green economy in the state.

“Governor Wilson Lima is committed to international agendas, visiting countries that have the potential to cooperate with the activities carried out in Amazonas. After all, we are a state with indices linked to sustainability that are unique, with 97% of all our vegetation cover preserved”,

highlighted the vice-governor.

After the meeting, Tadeu de Souza made a referral so that state bodies, such as the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema) and the Amazonas State Development Agency (Afeam), can continue the discussion of possible projects in partnership with the European fund.
