Alef Manga and six other players are denounced by MP-GO

the striker Alef Mangaof coritiba, was denounced by the Public Ministry of Goiás (MP-GO) in Operation Maximum Penalty. He is on the list alongside six other players: midfielder Jesús Trindade (ex-Coxa), midfielder Thonny Anderson (ABC), left-backs Pedrinho (Shakhtar Donetsk), Sidcley (ex-Cuiabá and current CSKA 1948) and Igor Cariús (Sport), and striker Dadá Belmonte (América-MG).

The complaint was offered on Wednesday (19) and initially revealed by Look. It is the third complaint made by the MP-GO in the investigation that investigates the manipulation of results of games played in Series A and B of 2022, in addition to state matches in 2023.

According to MP-GO, Manga was denounced after receiving BRL 45,000 to receive a yellow card in the match against América-MG, for the 25th round of the 2022 Brasileirão. Coxa has not yet commented on the complaint.

“The advantage consisted of the promise to pay R$ 50,000.00 (fifty thousand reais), of which at least R$ 5,000.00 (five thousand reais) were actually delivered before the match, all so that the athlete Alef Mangueira Severino Pereira (Alef Manga) was punished with a yellow card during the game. Afterwards, the rest of the amounts were partially transferred to the player in the months following the match and, in total, he received approximately R$ 45,000.00 (forty-five thousand reais)”.

The striker stayed four games away from Coxa, and returned to play in the defeat against Palmeiras, for the ninth round of the Brasileirão. Five days later, he was removed by the board, which considered terminating his contract because of the police investigation, but he was only placed to train at specific times at the CT in Graciosa.

On May 29, Coritiba reinstated the athlete and informed that the decision could be modified or revoked at any time due to the course of investigations of Operation Maximum Penalty. On June 14, Diego Porfírio, formerly of Coritiba, revealed that he had nominated Manga for the betting scheme in a statement made to MP-GO.

Other denounced

In addition to the seven players, eight other people were also cited and will now become defendants if the Justice accepts the complaint: Bruno Lopez, Cleber Vinicius Rocha Antunes (“Clebinho Fera”), Ícaro Calixto, Luís Felipe Rodrigues de Castro, Romário Hugo dos Santos, Thiago Chambó and Victor Yamasaki Fernandes.

Ex-Athletico, Ecuadorian defensive midfielder Bryan García and lateral Diego Porfírio, ex-Coxa, made agreements, paid a fine and were not denounced by the MP-GO (see further below).

This Thursday (20), the ge.globe released audios and prints that integrate the MP-GO process. Manga complains to Diego Porfírio about the delay in payment by bettors for the card received against América-MG.
