The Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, expressed solidarity with the Minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes this Sunday (16) and stated through social networks that the aggressions against him are inadmissible.

“The aggressions against Minister Alexandre de Moraes are unacceptable. I express all my solidarity with the Minister and his family, and I repudiate the disrespectful and aggressive form of the acts perpetrated. Brazil voted for democracy. The climate of hatred and disrespect provoked by some not continue,” he wrote.

This Friday (14), Moraes and his family were harassed by a group of Brazilians at the international airport in Rome, Italy. The Federal Police launched an investigation to investigate the episode, including a possible attack on the minister’s son.

According to information collected by the investigators, the group would have used expressions such as “bandit”, “communist” and “bought”. One of the suspects is businessman Roberto Mantovani Filho, 71, who lives in the interior of São Paulo. He was approached by the PF this Saturday upon arrival in Brazil.

Mantovani told Folha that he saw Moraes at Rome’s international airport on Friday, but did not speak to him. “What I can tell you is that I actually saw the minister. He was sitting in a room, but I didn’t say a word to him,” he said.

He, his wife (Andreia Munarão), son (Giovanni Mantovani) and son-in-law (Alex Zanatta Bignotto) are targets of the PF investigation. Asked by Sheet on the information that the minister’s son had been attacked, Mantovani declined to comment.

Moraes participated in an international law forum held at the University of Siena in Italy. He was a member of the Constitutional Justice and Democracy panel, which was also attended by Minister André Ramos Tavares, a member of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court).

This Saturday (15), several authorities repudiated the episode. The Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, determined that the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) take the appropriate measures. The PGR classified the aggression as “repulsive” and stated that the fact that the hostility reached Moraes’ family was an aggravating factor.

The President of Congress, Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), also showed solidarity. “Acts of hostility such as those suffered by Minister Alexandre de Moraes and his family yesterday [sexta], are unacceptable. To them, my solidarity, “she wrote.

“More than criminal and demeaning people, institutions and democracy, this type of behavior undermines the path that is intended to build a country of progress, civilized and peaceful. All sides need to collaborate so that antagonism remains in the field of legitimate ideas and actions”, he added.
