After racist attacks, Vinicius Junior says he “loves Madrid”

After scoring his goal in the final moments of extra time, giving the final numbers to Real’s 3-1 victory, Vinícius took his hand to his heart and made a gesture extending it to the entire stadium, showing gratitude for the support he received from the crowd after this new case of racism.

Shortly afterwards, in his first reaction to the victory over Atlético, the Brazilian took the opportunity to launch a provocation on his Twitter account: “There is only one Madrid. Everybody knows”.

Real Madrid director reiterates support for Vinicius Junior after racist attacks

Real Madrid’s director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueño, said on Thursday that Vinícius Júnior, who has again suffered from racist attacks in Spain, has “the absolute support of the club”.

Before the derby between Real and Atlético de Madrid this Thursday, valid for the quarterfinals of the King’s Cup, fans of the rival team simulated the hanging of a doll dressed in Vinicius Junior’s shirt hanging from an overpass.

The answer came on the field, with a goal by the Brazilian to close the score at 3-1 for Real and seal Atlético’s elimination.

“Vinicus has all the support of the club, his teammates and the public. He is a very important player for us. Today the public showed their affection for him and we are happy for him. It was a difficult match and a private game for him”, declared Butragueño to “Real Madrid TV”.

“We are happy with his performance. He is a player who never leaves the game, who is very constant and who is always looking for a way to create danger for the opponent. He scored a very difficult goal”, he added.
