The penalty, whether well or poorly scored, usually changes the history of a game, a championship, or football. The penalty is often one of the manifestations of chance, as you never know where and when it will occur. It happens.

According to football logic, every move that is considered a foul in midfield must be considered a penalty when it occurs inside the area. The referees, however, due to the importance of the penalty, should have been more careful in marking it. The penalty cannot be trivialized.

The penalty awarded in favor of Atlético-MG, when the game was 1 x 1, was correctly signaled according to the football rules. However, the rule should be changed. It is impossible for the defender to control the position of his arm when fighting for a ball. The Cruzeiro player had his arm outstretched. He didn’t touch the ball with his arm. It was the ball that hit the arm.

The penalty scored in favor of Palmeiras against Santos is not even in the rule. The goalkeeper tried to move his body to avoid touching Endrick, but the player’s speed was so great that it was impossible not to make contact. The English referees would not award the penalty. In fact, there seems to be an initiative in England by referees not to award certain penalties. Would it be an attempt to pressure managers to change the rule?

One of Palmeiras’ qualities is the structural organization, made up of serious and competent professionals. There is no politics at the club. Abel Ferreira, the coaching staff and athletes are important parts of the success, which continues over the years.

Atlético-MG won the Minas Gerais title in a comeback. The new coach’s bold changes when the team was losing worked and excited the fans. The change made by Cruzeiro’s coach, removing the offensive midfielder to add another defender, in order to strengthen the defense, was widely criticized and led to his dismissal. I’ve seen thousands of technicians do the same. When it works, it is praised, when it goes wrong, it is heavily criticized.

The dismissal of Cruzeiro’s coach is understandable, but more important than changing coaches is hiring two great players.

The emotional aspects of athletes need to be more valued. A football match is much more than strategic, technological, statistical facts, with defined causes and effects. Athletes are not just a collection of organs, bones, muscles, blood vessels, tendons and cartilage. They also have emotions, feelings and affections, which need to be known and guided by psychology professionals. The body and soul go together. Affections do not exist just to decorate.
