A new party created from the merger of PTB and Patriota, the PRD (Democratic Renewal Party) expects to receive at least 15 federal deputies by the end of the year, the majority coming from conservative parties.
The main star must be Ricardo Salles, but he still depends on authorization from the PL to leave. He intends to run for Mayor of São Paulo in 2024.
Despite this, the party intends to present itself as center-right. To do this, it counts on the recall of number 25, which it will use and once belonged to the extinct PFL and DEM.
“There will be a good wave of affiliations. We will start with something around 50 to 60 mayors”, says Otavio Fakhoury, who should be the president of the party’s directory in the state of São Paulo.
In the coming days, the new party will define the command positions, which will have parity between those originating from the two acronyms. The president will be Ovasco Resende, a former Patriota graduate.
