“Perhaps the minister, her technicians and the president of Ibama, need to go back to their roots and have more connectivity with the States of the Amazon region to have more property to discuss this topic”, said Federal Deputy Acácio Favacho (MDB/AP) during the public hearing at the Commission for the Environment and Sustainable Development.

This Wednesday (24) Acácio Favacho questioned the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, regarding the studies presented by Ibama for the refusal of gas and oil exploration in Foz do Amazonas. The minister was invited to present the portfolio’s work plan and programs to the deputies.

The Deputy formalized his dissatisfaction with the absence of the consultation with the people of Amapa and Pará regarding the interest in exploration, and demanded more connectivity from the ministry with the population of the States involved. “Connectivity, if you can add a word to your Work Plan, your Ministry of the Environment working group in future decisions. This decision was hasty, precipitated, with all due respect from my point of view and from my people of Amapá, whom I represent here, and from the people of the State of Pará”, affirm.

The parliamentarian reinforced the inconsistencies in the Ibama report, and spoke on behalf of state deputies, councilors, governors, who, unlike the Ministry of the Environment, held wide public hearings, such as the one held in the municipality of Oiapoque by the Legislative Assembly of Amapá, which unfortunately did not had a representative from Ibama. “The decision did not provide the people of Amapá and all the other states that make up the equatorial margin. The Minister, did not provide opportunities for our population that is so needy”, he said.

Acácio reinforced that the environmental agenda is not a party agenda. “This is not an agenda for the right, the left or the center, it is an agenda for all of us, but we will only be able to build this understanding of the right, the left, the center, the executive branch, the legislature, the judiciary if we have the opportunity in your work plan the word connectivity. Our state is poor, needy and preserves for the whole world, but which has more than 70% of its population in CadÚnico”, reinforces.

Favacho concluded by reinforcing that: “Nine technicians decided from here in Brasília in their offices, the life of the people of the northern state. Perhaps, the minister, the technicians and the president of Ibama really need to go back to their roots and have more connectivity with the States of the Amazon region, to have more property to discuss here at this table. I conclude by mentioning an excerpt from a song that is an anthem for the State of Amapá – Who has never seen the Amazon. He will not tell our story because he does not know and does not do justice”, he concludes.
