After the success of the first stage of 2023, held in early January in Guarapari-ES, the AJP Tour lands in Gramado, in Rio Grande do Sul. Famous for its good cuisine and beautiful landscapes, the city is one of the most popular destinations among tourists looking for tranquility and lower temperatures without leaving the country. However, next February 12th, when one of the main Jiu Jitsu events in the world will be staged, expectations are different. More than 2,000 athletes and fight fans are expected in the region, which expects to experience hot days and a lot of action inside the mats.
“Everyone’s expectations here in the city are very high, the event contributes a lot to increasing the popularity of Jiu Jitsu in Gramado. We are sure it will be a weekend of strong emotions and very busy for anyone in the city”, evaluates Lucas Roldo, secretary of Sport and Leisure of Gramado.
This will be the fifth time that Gramado will host an Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro event. The success of previous editions made the number of academies in the region grow and, consequently, the number of athletes registered in the competitions as well.
“For us it’s fantastic to be part of the circuit because it helps us to promote our social projects, to develop the sport in the city. We feel that every year the event is bigger, with more local athletes involved, more people interested in Jiu Jitsu. It’s a result. of a job very well done”, explains councilor Renan Sartori.
In addition to helping with the development of Jiu Jitsu in the city, the stage in Gramado also helps to boost the local economy, as the month of February tends to have a lower demand for tourists in the region.
“This period is not as busy as the rest of the year, so it ends up filling this gap for us. Because there are many people involved in the event, athletes, companions, fans, organizers, so this whole movement adds a lot”, explains Flaviana, responsible for Laghetto hotel.
