The discount for good drivers does not cancel the 10% discount granted to those who pay the IPVA within the validity period

Manaus (AM) – Bill No. 85/2023, which automatically grants discounts on the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) to good drivers, authored by Deputy Thiago Abrahim (União Brasil), was unanimously approved by the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas ( Aleam), this Wednesday (24).

“We unanimously approved, here in the plenary of Aleam, the bill that grants an automatic discount on IPVA, which can reach up to 20%. Previously, this discount was made through a request and a series of certificates from the Detran, Manaustrans and Federal Highway Police, among others. Now, we just need to wait for Governor Wilson Lima’s sanction,”

Abraham said.

The matter amends Article 1 of Law 203/2014, and grants discounts of 10%, 15% and 20% to good drivers “who have not committed an infraction within the scope of the State of Amazonas”, automatically, without the need to prior request to the State Treasury Department (Sefaz).

“This is a good discount that benefits citizens and saves money. The citizen already has a very high tax burden. The discount, regulated by Decree No. 35,580/2015, is carried out in stages. For example, if you were a good driver in 2020, 2021 and 2022, you will get a 20% discount. If you were a good driver in 2021 and 2022 you will get a 15% discount and if you were a good driver in 2022 you will get a 10% discount”,

explained.

The discount for good drivers does not nullify the 10% discount granted to those who pay the IPVA within the period of validity, that is, good drivers can have discounts of up to 30%.

“We need to reduce bureaucracy in the services offered to the population. Today, with technology, we are making it more and more simple, seeking to bring facilities to the citizen’s life. We present this bill that will guarantee up to 30% discount for good drivers, thinking about those who need it most. If you ask me, why 30%? Today, you already have a 10% discount if you pay the tax within the validity period and 20% if you don’t get a fine”.

Thus, the Amazonian will not need to spend time and money on so much bureaucracy, the automatic discount will contribute and help a lot in this process.

Governor Wilson Lima has a legal deadline of 15 days to sanction the law.
