Election poll

The electoral survey shows the federal deputy with 35% of preference, followed by the current mayor with 28%

Manaus (AM) — The survey by the Listening Data and Research Institute, released this Monday (12), showed that the federal deputy and pre-candidate for Mayor of Manaus, Amom Mandel (Cidadania), reached first place in the stimulated survey, followed by the current mayor David Almeida (Avante).

The research simulated two scenarios with seven candidates at home, alternating between representing the Liberal Party (PL), alternating between Alberto Neto and Coronel Menezes. In the first, Amom leads with 35% of voting intentions, while David Almeida has 28%. Next, Alberto Neto (13%), Roberto Cidade (União Brasil) (4%) and Ricardo Nicolau (Solidariedade) (3%).

The first five candidates in the second scenario were defined as: Amom Mandel (38%), David Almeida (28%), Coronel Menezes (11%), Roberto Cidade (4%) and Ricardo Nicolau (3%). In both, the PL candidate guarantees third place and, between the candidates, the difference is in percentage.

The survey’s margin of error is three percentage points, plus or minus. Blank and invalid votes totaled 8% and 9%, in the scenarios, respectively, and voters who did not know how to respond or did not respond were 6% and 8%.

In the spontaneous interview, where they simulate the election being held on the day of the survey and do not present the candidates, Amom and David tied with 18% preference. While 57% of respondents did not know how to answer.

For the survey, 1,100 voters were interviewed in person between February 28th and March 2nd. The research has a reliability level of 95% and was registered with the Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas (TRE-AM).

Political analyst Helso Ribeiro analyzed the trajectory of Amom Mandel who, four years ago, was one of the candidates who had the spotlight to run for the Manaus City Council (CMM), and, during the elections, received a significant amount of votes, considering the little screen time.

“He [Amom] He was elected as a councilor, he didn’t receive the most votes, but he received good votes. In the two years he was in parliament, he had a very interesting performance and presented a strong propositional opposition. Two years later he ran for the Federal Chamber, becoming the federal deputy with the most votes in the history of Amazonas and the most voted in Brazil, proportionally. This generates a memory of his name, which is very strong”,

explained.

Ribeiro also stated that during his performance in Brasília, Amom continues to present a tough opposition. Therefore, in addition to winning over voters even more, there is also another bias, and hence there is the “hype” regarding the pre-candidate’s name.

In relation to the criticism received by the federal deputy, regarding the lack of experience to manage the municipality and due to his youth, the political analyst argued that, like President Luís Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), former president Dilma Rousseff (PT) and the governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima (UB), who were elected without having served in the administration, at “some point Amom also had to start”.

“What can be questioned is his administrative capacity, since he never held the position, but at some point he has to start. They always draw arguments from being young and not having administered, but they are not solid arguments. Now what I’m thinking about is knowing at what point the strength of this research will prevail for both him and the mayor. The conventions will be in a little over 4 months, in July until the first week of August, let’s see if people get there strong enough”,

concluded.
