The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), announced this Thursday (13) that the civic-military schools will continue to function in the state, but with administration shared with the Fire Department.

The decision was communicated by social media a day after President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) decided to end the program, created by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), in an agreement between the Ministries of Education and Defense.

According to the program, the two departments are responsible for developing management in the educational and didactic-pedagogical areas of the schools with the participation of the faculty of the establishments and support from the military. Information is from the program’s website. Schools can be state and municipal.

“In Minas, civic-military schools will continue to function under shared management by firefighters,” said Zema, in the publication. Minas Gerais firefighters are state soldiers.

According to a list also available on the website, Minas Gerais has 16 schools included in the program. Two in Belo Horizonte and 14 in the interior. Eight are state and eight are municipal. The State Department of Education maintains 3,518 teaching establishments.

A state school, located in Santos Dumont, in the Zona da Mata, is also included in the program. However, the list points out that the establishment to participate has not yet been defined.

In this Thursday’s publication, Zema states that the tradition, discipline and prestige of one of the most respected institutions in the world now join the work of teaching miners.

Heir

It is the second time throughout the month of July that Zema nods to Bolsonarism. The governor supported the former president in the second round of elections for the Planalto Palace last year.

With Bolsonaro’s ineligibility determined by the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) on June 30, Zema began to be considered, alongside the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), a possible political heir of the former president.

The first nod was on the 1st, a day after the TSE decision. Zema went to social networks and published a sentence attributed to the Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini: “We were the first to affirm that, the more complex civilization becomes, the more one must restrict the freedom of the individual”, he posted.

This Wednesday (12), in an interview with GloboNews, the governor said that the publication served as a warning and that he does not think like Mussolini.
