The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), committed a gaffe this Friday (10) involving one of the greatest poets in the country, Adélia Prado, also from Minas Gerais.
The governor was giving an interview in the studio for a radio station in Divinópolis, in the midwest region of Minas Gerais, where Adélia was born.
At the end of the conversation, when presented with a work by the author, he asked if she worked at the company.
“I would like to end the podcast, this special interview, Governor, presenting you with a book by Adélia Prado, who is a well-known writer in Divinópolis”, says the announcer.
“It’s a gift from the director here of the MPA communication system, on behalf of the entire group. They are the 150 best poems by our writer Adélia Prado”, he adds.
Zema picks up the book, starts leafing through it and says: “thank you very much, the book is very nice, I’m going to put it to good use, for sure”.
The announcer claims to know that Zema reads a lot. The governor then fires: “Does she work here?”
Disconcerted, the announcer says that Adélia Prado is a very famous writer, from Divinópolis and that the one who is presenting it to the governor is the director of the communication system. “Ah, okay. Perfect. Thank you very much. I really appreciate it”, replies Zema.
Adelia Prado is 87 years old. In addition to being a poet, she is a philosopher and teacher.
His first book, “Bagagem”, was published in 1975, with Carlos Drummond de Andrade as his “godfather”.
In addition to “Bagagem”, his main works include “O Coração Disparado” (1978), “Soltem os Cachorros” (1979), “Cacos para um Vitral” (1981), “Terra de Santa Cruz” (1981), ” A Faca no Peito” (1988), “Two Hours in the Afternoon in Brazil” (1996), “Quero Minha Mãe” (2005) and “Miserere” (2013).
The report contacted the communication sector of Palácio Tiradentes for possible positioning of the governor and awaits return.
