Zambelli criticizes Bolsonaro and asks the STF for a truce – 02/22/2023 – Politics

In the sights of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) and the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) for contesting the election, federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) now raises the white flag to Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

Zambelli, faithful squire of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), says that he should have been clear in asking for an end to demonstrations in the barracks and should have been in Brazil to lead the opposition – and that right-wing speeches can, yes, have taken to the scenes of January 8.

“After the 8th, I am being much more careful not to have more people fooling themselves. We are on another level, now is not the time to hit the STF”, he says.

For her, the focus of the opposition should be President Lula (PT).

The TSE suspended the deputy’s networks on November 1. Moraes returned them this month, but maintained a fine of R$20,000 if there are publications against democracy.

On Friday (17), the STF rejected the deputy’s appeal and kept her carrying weapons suspended – the action stems from the episode on the eve of the second round, when Zambelli pointed a pistol at a man with whom he argued in Jardins, in São Paulo. She was reported for illegal possession.

Third in number of votes, with 946,244 voters, behind Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP) and ahead of Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), Zambelli spoke to Sheet from a medicinal spa where he spent the weekend treating a fibromyalgia flare-up.

In 2018, Mrs. had 73.6 thousand votes. What explains your leap, given that other Bolsonaristas have not been successful? In 2018, I wasn’t known, the Nas Ruas movement was. Now, it is a combination of the popularity of my name and the loyalty that people found in me with Bolsonaro.

What led to the defeat in the presidential election? I found a few people who said: I’m going to vote for you, but not for Bolsonaro, you are lighter when it comes to speaking. Much of the judgment was on the way he spoke and less on what he did, because people approve of what he did.

Is the false thesis of fraud in the polls still echoing? I can’t answer or I’ll have to pay a R$ 20,000 fine.

Can you answer if this is something you hear from your voters? All the time. Today, at the medicinal spa, about 40 people came to take a picture with me, 30 of which questioned the result. But I can’t say, because I think it’s pacified, now it’s time to fight in another way.

What should be the focus of the opposition? The issue of ballot boxes has already been overcome by us parliamentarians. If there’s still something to be done, maybe it’s going back to talking about printed votes.

I’ve been saying that, as a deputy, my fight cannot be the same as the last legislature. I had the role of defending Bolsonaro and the government, anyone who attacked them had to become my target. In this legislature, Bolsonaro is no longer president, so our target has to be Lula, his deeds and misdeeds.

Bolsonaro said that the Lula government will not last, and Ms. already talked about impeachment. It’s a possibility? Yes, Lula has made a lot of mistakes. Impeachment needs a crime and political adherence. He has already committed a crime of responsibility. For example, he didn’t bid on the furniture at Alvorada. But it is not such a popular crime. But I believe he will soon commit. Congress will realize that he is not doing what he promised. The economy will start to go haywire, and he will become unpopular.

In the election, the right spoke of winning over the Senate and promoting Moraes’ impeachment. Should this be done? No. Bolsonaro not winning, we have to turn the key. Any impeachment in the STF, the replacement will be appointed by Lula. A person can enter who makes Alexandre de Moraes’ evil actions look like a child sucking popsicle.

Were you or are you afraid of being arrested? Fear is not the word, but expectation is. Not like a good expectation. Several times I went to sleep thinking that I would have to wake up at 6 am with the Federal Police at my door.

Because of what you said or posted. It didn’t happen because I didn’t exceed a certain limit, I didn’t commit any crime. But I played hard, I played hard on the words. When I went against my enemies I went in a brutal way, showing differences. There was a line I could cross, but knowing that other people crossed it and suffered the consequences.

Is there a mea culpa to be made after the 8th of January, with people instigated by these speeches? No, because they took my nets in November. I heard on the 7th that people would go up to the Esplanade. I talked to several people urging caution. I don’t feel guilty about the 8th.

But I already made a mea culpa about having drawn the gun. I made a political mistake, I should have avoided that fight starting.

Mrs. she told the truckers ‘don’t falter’, she told the generals ‘it’s time to take a stand’. Bolsonaro said that freedom is worth more than life. Are these lines not an incentive not to accept the election? About truck drivers, I think we had the right to demonstrate for a while against the result, showing support for Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro, even losing, played a key role in the opposition.

I disagree with the way he took all that time [para falar após a eleição] and the silence it had. He had to organize the opposition, guide us, he had been in the Chamber for 28 years. We had to show our displeasure even to encourage him to be the voice of the opposition.

When I speak with the generals, if the Armed Forces had carried out an audit, it is because they had to position themselves in the sense of whether there was fraud or not.

Could these speeches by you, Bolsonaro and other parliamentarians lead people to want or try to promote a coup? They can. You can put that sentence loose and the next day there will be an investigation against me at the STF, if there isn’t already one. But there are two facts [de contexto]: on the 8th, I talked to several people not to go or to be jealous. Second, today we realize that they did not make any effort to prevent this invasion from happening. There was a big facility to enter.

And regardless of any discourse, it is up to each person to be responsible for their actions. It’s the individualization of conduct, you can’t blame Bolsonaro for something you did.

‘They’ who facilitated entry? I speak in the third person plural on purpose, because we’re trying to figure it out. I defend the CPI [para apurar o 8 de janeiro]. There are people on the right who need to be arrested. Vandalism for me is terrorism, but there are innocent people arrested.

Mrs. would organize a visit of deputies to the prisoners, did you go? No. I scored based on the pressure my constituents put on. But an experienced parliamentarian said that the visit would only disturb these people’s lives, because it would look like an arm wrestling with the STF, so I aborted.

The coup is clear, even by the draft found with Anderson Torres… They wrote and also took it to my office. I don’t know who did it.

What should be the remedy to combat scamming, considering that Mrs. Is it critical of the performance of the STF? In the live that Bolsonaro did on December 30, he had to have made his thoughts clear. He would have been medicine if he had said it was for people to get out of the barracks.

Another remedy is what I am trying to do. I had three months to think. When I returned to my networks, I only made a video on a specific subject. I know that we influence people. After the 8th, I’m being a lot more careful not to have more people fooling themselves. We are on another level, now is not the time to hit the STF, it is not the time to demonstrate.

Mrs. knows Bolsonaro well. On the live, did he already know that the game was over or did he think there would be new chapters? No, he thought it was over. Watching the live, I felt sick, because I was sure at that moment that nothing else was going to happen. For me it was clear, but for several people who remained in the barracks it was not.

Right-wing voters complain that Bolsonaro fled to the US. Is he at risk if he comes here or had to be here to lead the opposition? I don’t think it’s running away. Spending time outside to think about what you’re going to do is legitimate. But I agree that he should be here to lead the opposition. We would have more conditions, capacity and strength.

Is he in danger of being arrested here? I think.

Should I be here anyway? He must have more information than us, that’s why he’s there. We have to be understanding with him.

Do you expect him to be the right wing candidate in 2026 or could he be ineligible and there must be an alternative like Michelle? He may be a candidate, but we have to prepare a new alternative. The right has to have four, five alternatives. It has to have Bolsonaro, Michelle, Bolsonaro’s children, Tarcísio and others.

Do you think about running for São Paulo City Hall in 2024? No, my guidelines are national.

The gun episode became an example of how radical Bolsonarism is. It was in this sense that the error political? I hit someone I never wanted to hit, which is the [ex-]president. I don’t know if that made a difference in his vote or not.

I had been threatened all night and I was very insulted, I was spat on, they pushed my son and then they pushed me from behind in a way that you can’t see on cameras. There were eight people, who were waiting for me to leave.

I went to sleep at 4:30 am and had managed to clean the phone, but the next day there were already 4,000 WhatsApp messages and more than 1,200 calls. I’ve had over 40,000 messages threatening me, several with pornography. Everything is reported.

I was under attack and under warning from people who said I was going to get shot in the head. When they approached, I said they’re going to kill me. I heard a shot and I didn’t see the policeman who was with me, I thought they had killed him.

The STF decided to keep its size suspended. I drew the legally enforceable weapon. Why don’t ministers ask themselves who those eight people were and why they fled? My guns shouldn’t have been seized, they suspended possession, not possession.

The hacker from Vaza Jato, Walter Delgatti, who Mrs. led to a meeting with Bolsonaro in August, told Brazilian Report that he worked for Ms. on her networks and that he would have participated in a plan to wiretap Moraes.
