Women’s Athletico beats Coritiba and is four-time champion of Paraná

O Women’s athletic won the Coritiba 3-1 and won the fourth championship of the women’s Paraná Championship. With a large presence from both fans, the game was at Arena Vermelha, in the Novo Mundo neighborhood, in Curitiba, on the afternoon of this Wednesday (15).

Gurias Furacão opened the scoring with Nathalia, expanded with Isa Cardoso, but Coxa scored with Brendha in the first half. In the final stage, Rafinha closed the scoring for the red-black team. Furacão won the State Championship in 2020, 2021, 2022 and now 2023.

The women’s Athletico, with more time in the project and with a base from the team that competed in the Brazilian Championship, had greater control of the match. Coritiba, with a younger average age, is a team formed from a partnership with Imperial, an amateur team from Curitiba.

Furacão ends this Paranaense with an unbeaten campaign in six games, five wins and one draw, with 23 goals scored and only one conceded. Goalkeeper Renata was the least leaked in the competition, and striker Isa Cardoso was the top scorer with seven goals. Coxa had three wins, one draw and two defeats in the competition, with 16 goals scored and six conceded.

“We know the structure that Athletico has. It’s totally different from ours. We are victorious in every context. We know the difficulty of women’s football, but today we saw a full stadium”, said Daiane Moretti, from Coritiba.

• Athletico, which was relegated in this year’s Brasileirão A1, will compete in the Brazilian Women’s Championship A2 in 2024.
• Coritiba, by reaching the final, guaranteed themselves in Series A3 in 2024.
