Amid the crisis created at Petrobras with the clash between its president, Jean Paul Prates, and the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, the price of gasoline sold by the state-owned company already accumulates a gap of almost 20% in relation to the market price. International.

The difference occurs due to the increase in the price of a barrel of oil, which rose by around 7% in the last month, and the rise in the dollar in relation to the real, which varied by 1.95% in the same period.

The lack of political environment, however, means that the chance of an adjustment in the coming days is considered “zero”, according to a high-ranking member of the company, reported to the newspaper “O Globo”.

According to the Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers (Abicom), this Tuesday (9), the gasoline price scenario in Brazil points to an average gap of 16%, reaching 20% at the Araucária terminal, in Paraná. .

Warren Investimentos calculates a 19% misalignment for Petrobras’ fuel compared to that sold outside the country. In the 30-day average, the gap is 16%.

According to Andréa Angelo, inflation strategist at the brokerage, a 10% increase in the price of gasoline at the refinery would impact the April IPCA projection by 0.18 percentage points, currently estimated at 0.36%. “We assess that, in addition to the rise in oil prices, the Real’s lag impacted the gasoline lag,” she says.

In May last year, already under the presidency of Prates, Petrobras announced the end of the so-called import parity price policy (PPI), by which it aligned the values of fuels in its refineries with those practiced by importers of petroleum derivatives in the country. country.

The last adjustment in the price of gasoline promoted by the state-owned company occurred on October 21st of last year, when a liter of fuel went from R$2.93 to R$2.81 in refineries.
