With a controversial goal, Grêmio beats Avenida and takes the lead

For the seventh round of the Campeonato Gaúcho, Grêmio took the lead in the competition by beating Avenida by 2-0 this Sunday (12). The winning goals for Tricolor were scored by Cristaldo and Everton Galdino. The team coached by Renato Portaluppi leads the competition with 21 points and, with the result, opens up eight points ahead of second place, Inter, with 13. One of the novelties of the match was the presence of goalkeeper Adriel, 22 years old.

The first half started at a fast pace with both teams looking for the goal. At 6 minutes, Rafael Carrilho kicked hard from the edge of the area, scaring goalkeeper Adriel. In the 14th minute, after a free kick, goalkeeper Tricolor made a great save, sending the ball to a corner. Grêmio already had two opportunities in fouls beaten by Reinaldo and Cristaldo. Well-armed in defense, Avenida did not leave space for striker Luis Suárez to score, and managed to exchange passes in an organized way, making an equal confrontation with Tricolor.

At 12 minutes of the second half, the move that changed the history of the match. Pepê took a quick free-kick on the left side, close to the bottom line, taking advantage of the visiting defense’s inattention. Striker Suárez made the pass from the side and Franco Cristaldo shot into the left corner, without a goalkeeper, to open the scoring. The Avenida team complained about the unauthorized charge and the two defenders, Marcão and Micael, were expelled by referee Francisco Soares Dias.

From then on, only Grêmio played, while Avenida, with two less, tried to defend itself. In the 47th minute, after a shot by Suárez, goalkeeper Rodolfo Castro hit the ball, which was left for Everton Galdino to send to the back of the net. In the next round of Gauchão, Grêmio will face São Luiz, in Ijuí, on Saturday (18), at 4:30 pm.
