Governor Wilson Lima held, this Monday (11), the opening of the academic year of the Professional Qualification courses at the Amazonas Technological Education Center (Cetam), in person in Manaus and Distance Learning (EaD). The ceremony took place at the Benjamin Constant Institute (IBC), in the Center, south of Manaus, a unit dedicated to courses in the area of IT, technology and innovation, industry 4.0 and maker culture activities.

This year, the supply jumped from almost nine thousand vacancies at the beginning of 2023 to 40.2 thousand, an increase of approximately 350%. Of the total, 25 thousand students are distance learning and 15.2 thousand are in-person in the capital, who begin their studies divided into 164 courses.

According to the governor, in addition to the significant increase being the result of the expansion and renovation of Cetam units, the Government of Amazonas is attentive to market demands and preparing qualified labor for various areas, such as aesthetics, industry 4.0, gastronomy, management and business , health and education, among others.

“We are living at a time when the world is advancing at a very impressive speed and it is necessary for students, especially those in high school, to be connected with these new technologies and new changes. This is a boy who will leave school and face the job market. So, it is an important delivery here at the Benjamim Constant Institute”, highlighted Wilson Lima.

In the latest notice for face-to-face classes, Cetam offered vacancies for six new courses: School Food Agent; Basic Arduino (electronic prototyping platform); Management of Beauty Salons and Aesthetic Clinics; School Mediator; Additive Manufacturing Techniques; and ABA Therapy for Autism.

“Cetam is making a new diagnosis, as the governor just said, so that we can really transform the lives of these students. We are concerned about what the market needs and what we will offer. So, we are looking for businesspeople to find out what they need in the Industrial District and we are looking within the communities for what students need to have better qualifications”, explained the CEO of Cetam, Fábio Albuquerque.

Structure

To guarantee quality teaching, the Benjamin Constant Institute (IBC) has a computer park with nine laboratories and more than 200 computers. Among the laboratories are those focused on Industry 4.0, which have state-of-the-art equipment found only in higher education institutions and companies in the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM).

IBC operates in the Information and Communication Technological Axis and offers courses such as: Basic and Advanced IT, Computer Maintenance, Networks, Computer Graphics, Systems Development, IT, Internet IT, IT Maintenance and Support, Digital Games Programming, Database, Information Technology Management, Notebook Maintenance, Computer Networks, Information Security and Java among others.

“It’s a structure that few places have in terms of technology equipment, which is state-of-the-art. With these courses that the governor has invested in, making resources available, the students have good training and, with this training, they are capable of working in any area”, said Ian Pimentel, 30, who takes the technical course in electronics as he already works in the area and to advance in your career.

Cetam also has new courses in the unit such as: Web and Mobile Application Development; Artificial intelligence; and Cloud Computing, chosen due to the great need for qualified professionals in these sectors in Amazonas. The proposal is to increasingly bring new trends in technology training to the state.

Since 2019 until February this year, the Wilson Lima administration has already offered a total of 856 thousand places for technical and professional courses at Cetam units throughout the state. In 2023 alone, there were 200 thousand more vacancies.

Cetam also implemented laboratories aimed at expanding Industry 4.0 and innovative projects, which have boosted professional education in Amazonas. In total, the institution has a catalog with 540 courses in different areas, distributed in its own schools and in State Centers for Family and Elderly Coexistence.

In his first administration, governor Wilson Lima opened three new Cetam schools. The Galileia unit, the first school in the north of Manaus, with capacity to serve 9 thousand students per year.

In Alto Solimões, in the municipality of Benjamin Constant, the new unit serves around 1,200 students from the region annually.
