Wilson Lima expands to 57 ADS Regional Product fairs

Manaus (AM) – Governor Wilson Lima inaugurated, this Friday (23), another Fair of Regional Products of the Amazonas Development Agency (ADS), which starts operating in the upper parking lot of the Amadeu Teixeira Arena, in the center-south zone of the capital, all on Fridays from 3 pm to 7 pm. With the new unit, the number of fairs for regional products was increased to 57.
“We have been doing a series of actions with the primary sector and the delivery of this fair here at ADS is another one of those actions that we do so that the small producer has a space to sell his product on Fridays too and here are people who live around Manaus, in the rural area of Manaus and also in the metropolitan region, people from Autazes, Manacapuru, Rio Preto da Eva and other municipalities that are part of this green belt”, highlighted Governor Wilson Lima.
The new structure has five tents measuring 10×10 meters, which initially houses an average of 40 farmers who are rural producers from cities in the metropolitan region. On site, consumers will be able to purchase regional products such as fruits, vegetables and greens, including lemon, passion fruit, fish, flour, handicrafts and ornamental and medicinal plants.
Of the 57 editions of fairs, 13 are in the capital and 44 in the interior, benefiting more than 600 fairs throughout Amazonas. The editions are carried out by ADS, which integrates the system of the State Secretariat of Rural Production (Sepror) – also including the Institute for Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry Development of the State of Amazonas (Idam) and the Agricultural and Forestry Defense Agency of the State of Amazonas (Adaf).
“It’s one more opportunity for us to sell our products from our municipality directly to the consumer. It is through Governor Wilson Lima that we managed to make this dream of all consumers come true because we don’t have middlemen”, said Rodolfo Augusto, a farmer from the municipality of Autazes who grows tucumã and Brazil nuts.
In addition to Governor Wilson Lima, state deputies Carlinhos Bessa, Mário César Filho, Adjuto Afonso and João Luiz were present; Councilors Lissandro Breval, Alan Campelo, Márcio Tavares, Professor Jaqueline, Ivo Neto and Rosivaldo Cordovil; in addition to the Secretary of Rural Production, Petrucio Magalhães, and the president of ADS, Michelle Macedo.
Investments
With special attention to rural areas, the Government of Amazonas invests R$ 13 million for the program that aims to guarantee the expansion of fairs in the 62 municipalities of Amazonas. Among the beneficiaries are individual producers, associations, cooperatives and agroindustries, in addition to the local population, which has access to quality products directly from the producer.
The investment is part of the 2023/2024 Crop Plan resource package, launched by Governor Wilson Lima in April this year, which totals R$ 3.72 billion related to the Sepror System programs (Idam, Adaf and ADS). About 6% of this resource is allocated to ADS programs, with investments of more than R$98 million in 2023 and more than R$124 million in 2024.
The Safra Plan is part of the Agro Amazonas Program and aims to guide and provide transparency to the State Government’s public policies, aimed at the sustainable development of the primary sector, internalizing and diversifying the economic matrix of Amazonas.
Trade Show Schedule
Also this Friday, the State Government inaugurated a Fair of Regional Organic and Agroecological Products in the G1 parking lot, at Shopping Ponta Negra, west of Manaus, which will be held every Friday, from 3 pm to 7 pm, and has 55 stallholders. The new editions – at Arena Amadeu Teixeira and at Shopping – are part of the ADS 20th anniversary programme.
In Manaus, the fairs take place from Tuesday to Sunday in spaces structured by the Government of Amazonas in different areas of the capital.
