Why does USP still bar student registrations? – 04/09/2024 – TV Folha

Judge Danilo de Paula, from the 2nd Court of Cerqueira César, issued a ruling last Friday (5) demanding that the University of São Paulo (USP) ensure the enrollment of Alison dos Santos Rodrigues, aged 18, who had her Denied admission to the medical course because he was not considered mixed race.

Despite having declared himself as such, the USP hetero-identification committee contested the statement. After analyzing a photograph and conducting a brief virtual interview lasting approximately one minute with the candidate, the commission concluded that he could not be classified as mixed race.
