Current Justices Ricardo Lewandowski and Rosa Weber are 75 years old this year and have to leave the Court because of compulsory retirement.
For the first vacancy that will open, for Lewandowski, the preference is for someone young, who has his name approved by the current occupant of the chair in the STF and who is a “guarantee”.
A good part of those quoted to be appointed by Lula to the STF belong to the Prerogativas group, composed of lawyers and law professors and which emerged in 2014 to combat Lava Jato methods.
