The national president of Podemos, Renata Abreu, criticized this Tuesday night (16) the impeachment of federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol (PR) by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), unanimously among the judges.

In a note released to the press, Renata says that “Brazil and the national parliament lose with the decision that changed the understanding of the TRE-PR [Tribunal Regional Eleitoral do Paraná]” which approved the candidacy of the former Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office for the 2022 elections.

“The expressive vote that the former head of Operation Lava Jato obtained at the polls, of more than 344 thousand votes, corresponds to the massive popular approval of his work in the fight against corruption and in defense of Brazilian society”, pointed out the president of Podemos.

Still according to Renata Abreu, the party is in solidarity with the parliamentarian and “will spare no efforts in evaluating measures that can still be taken in defense of Dallagnol”.

Dallagnol’s mandate was revoked after the TSE complied with a complaint filed by the Associação Brasil da Esperança alleging that the former prosecutor had requested dismissal from the Public Prosecutor’s Office while a Disciplinary Administrative Proceeding (PAD) was pending, which, according to the Law on Clean Sheet, would make the former Lava Jato prosecutor ineligible. The Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE-PR), however, recognized that he did not have any pending PAD at the time of his dismissal and granted his candidacy.
