The “Viva Santana” project, which is part of the celebrations of the 36th anniversary of the municipality’s founding, will feature an extensive program of activities that promises to bring excitement to the riverside region.

Among the events is the long-awaited 1st Amapá Rowing School, in which students will have the opportunity to learn techniques used in sports such as stand up paddle and kayaking.

Registration is open and can be made at the Piauí Municipal School and at the Igarapé da Fortaleza and Ana Dias state schools. 100 places will be available for children and teenagers aged 10 to 17.

It is a requirement that the child or adolescent is a public school student and is studying from the 5th to the 9th year. Parents or guardians must fill out a liability waiver for the student to participate.

Classes at the 1st Rowing School will be taught by qualified instructors and divided between theoretical and practical classes. One of the objectives is to promote the strengthening of tourism, contributing to the training of a workforce capable of disseminating knowledge.

According to Nilson Chagas, member of the Santana Extraordinary Tourism Secretariat, this will be a moment of learning. “The idea is to provide children and teenagers, especially those living in Igarapé da Fortaleza, with the opportunity to learn how to row. With this, we will strengthen the tourism sector, generating qualified labor and, soon, these same students will be able to generate income for themselves”he stated.

Participants will be able to learn stand up paddle and kayak paddling techniques, sports with strong tourist potential. Theoretical classes will be held at Escola Municipal Piauí, on December 2nd, in two periods (morning and afternoon).

The practical classes will take place on the pier of the Flora restaurant, in Igarapé da Fortaleza.

“We are preparing all activities with great attention and care. The security scheme for practical classes is also ready, and we will count on the Fire Department and the Navy. All this to ensure that we have good activities and total safety”concluded Nilson.
