Vini Jr. and Alisson are on the podium of the list of the best – 07/08/2023 – O Mundo É uma Bola

This week, the FC 100 was released for the seventh time, a list of the best players (90, divided into nine positions) and coaches (10) drawn up by the ESPN team, referring to the 2022/2023 season.

I always check the list of those elected, I consider it important to know what fellow journalists saw in recent months in football, who in their view stood out in this specific period.

Of the 100 names, 11 are Brazilian. Only two, however, occupy the podium: Alisson, from Liverpool, third among goalkeepers (behind Courtois, from Real Madrid, and Ter Stegen, from Barcelona), and Vinicius Junior, from Real Madrid, second among strikers ( behind Mbappé of Paris Saint-Germain and ahead of Messi, captain of world champion Argentina).

Brazil has nine other athletes among those on the FC 100 – all of whom were at the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

There was no representative, however, on the two sides, whose best voted were Moroccan Hakimi, from PSG (on the right), and Canadian Alphonso Davies, from Bayern (on the left).

In the top 5, both in fifth, appear Éder Militão, defender of Real Madrid, and Gabriel Martinelli, offensive wing of Arsenal. The other Brazilians rank sixth behind in their respective categories.

Neymar, the country’s most famous player and who has been recovering from an injury since February, was almost absent. PSG’s number 10 appears in the tenth and last place in the list of attackers.

Among the midfielders, Brazil scored Casemiro, from Manchester United (sixth), and Bruno Guimarães, from Newscastle (tenth). At the top, Bellingham, an Englishman recently signed by Real Madrid.

Rodrygo, from Real, occupies eighth place on the list of offensive wingers, punctuated by another Englishman: Saka, from Arsenal.

The best striker, and one could not expect it to be any different, is the Norwegian Haaland, from Manchester City, top scorer in the English Premier League (36 goals) and the Champions League (12 goals). Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal) is sixth in the category.

Finally, Ederson (Manchester City) is the seventh best goalkeeper and Lucas Paquetá, the ninth best offensive midfielder – in this list, the first place is the Belgian De Bruyne (Manchester City).

If the FC100 list took a team to the field, it would be (with two attacking midfielders): Courtois; Hakimi, Rubén Dias, Gvardiol and Davies; Bellingham, De Bruyne and Odegaard; Saka, Haaland and Mbappe. Manager: Guardiola.

There are two Belgians (Courtois and De Bruyne), two Norwegians (Odegaard and Haaland) and two Englishmen (Bellingham and Saka), as well as a Moroccan (Hakimi), a Portuguese (Dias), a Croatian (Gvardiol), a Canadian (Davies ) and a Frenchman (Mbappé), plus the Spanish coach.

Team B, with Vinicius Junior, would be (with two attacking midfielders): Ter Stegen; Trippier, Saliba, Alaba and Theo Hernández; Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Musiala; Kvaratskhelia, Benzema and Vini Jr. Technician: Ancelotti.

This formation has three Frenchmen (Saliba, Theo and Benzema), two Germans (Ter Stegen and Musiala), a Brazilian (Vini), an Englishman (Trippier), a Spaniard (Rodri), a Portuguese (Bernardo), an Austrian (Alaba ) and a Georgian (Kvaratskhelia), plus the Italian coach who, says the CBF, will take over the Brazilian national team in 2024.
