Video: Deltan’s alternate talks with the statue of Ulysses – 06/13/2023 – Politics

Luiz Carlos Hauly (Podemos-PR) took office and took over this Tuesday afternoon (13) the vacancy of Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) in the Chamber of Deputies. Moments earlier, the 72-year-old parliamentarian with seven previous terms in office engaged in a conversation with the statue of Ulysses Guimarães (1916-1992).

Hauly, who had 11,925 votes, takes office after the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) revokes the mandate of the former coordinator of Lava Jato, who had 345 thousand votes.

“I’m back. I ask for permission to return to our work, my idol, my dear friend. I had the honor of living with you, I’m back here. I count on your enlightenment”, said Hauly to the statue of Ulysses, which is in the Salão Verde da Casa, in front of the entrance to the plenary.

Hauly was elected federal deputy for the first time in 1990, the same year that Ulysses (MDB) was elected for what would be his last term.

In the previous legislature, the emedebista, one of the main figures of the country’s redemocratization, led the process that elaborated the 1988 Constitution in the Presidency of the Chamber.

Ulysses died in a plane crash in 1992. In 2019, a statue in his honor was installed in the Green Hall of the Chamber.

Hauly said this Tuesday that he will maintain the profile of his previous terms in the Chamber.

“I defend republican and developmentalist ideas, as I have always done, since when I created the Export Law, Simples, Supersimples, MEI [Microempreendedor Individual]since when I made the first public account transparency law in Brazil, so my mandate is dedicated to my resilient voters, who stayed with me until this point in the fight”, said Hauly.

Despite this, he stated that “the 430,000 Podemos voters can rest assured” that there are points of convergence between him and Deltan, such as “order, legality and constitutionality”.

The TSE unanimously revoked Deltan’s mandate, in response to a lawsuit by the Brazilian Federation of Hope (PT, PC do B and PV) and the PMN, which claimed that Deltan could not have left his career as a public prosecutor to enter politics because it responded to investigations, disciplinary complaints and requests for action at the CNMP (National Council of the Public Ministry).

Subsequently, Minister Dias Toffoli, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) responded to a request from Podemos and reversed the decision of the TRE (Regional Electoral Court) of Paraná, which had allocated the Deltan vacancy to Itamar Paim, a pastor from Paranaguá affiliated with the PL , acronym of former president Jair Bolsonaro.
