Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) stated that due to fear that Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), would block his bank accounts, he removed part of the money from the bank and carried out renovations on his beach house in Vila History of Mambucaba, in Angra dos Reis (RJ).

Bolsonaro declined to say how much he spent. “I’m not going to tell you this, but I paid out of my pocket and I have all the invoices”, he limited himself to saying.

At the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018, the report from Sheet he was in Mambucaba during the investigation into the Bolsonaro family’s assets, since at the time the patriarch was in the pre-campaign that would lead him, months later, to the Presidency of the Republic.

Despite having been a federal deputy for 28 years and also having three children during his mandate, Bolsonaro and his family were presented at the time by allies as people outside traditional politics. The objective was to surf the anti-system wave that set the tone for those elections.

At the time, the newspaper showed that the family’s assets had multiplied in politics, bringing together 13 properties with a market price of at least R$15 million, most in highly valued areas of Rio de Janeiro, such as Copacabana, Barra da Tijuca and Urca.

With the exception of a chocolate store in which current senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) was a partner, the family dedicated itself only to politics.

Among the properties identified by Sheet at the time there was Mambucaba. The construction occupied a large part of a plot of approximately 700 square meters, consisting, in short, of two houses, one facing the main street of the village and the other towards the back, with direct access to the beach.

Mambucaba is neighboring Paraty and is about 200 kilometers from the city of Rio de Janeiro. It has around 1,000 inhabitants and its entire architectural and landscape complex is listed by Iphan (Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage), including a 17th century church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, the region was home to an important port for exporting coffee and importing slaves.

Bolsonaro’s house was valued by brokers in the region, at the end of 2017, for a market price of around R$1 million.

The property is constantly cited by the former president as an example of the unfounded criticism he suffers, since, according to him, opponents attribute to the family the ownership of a “R$10 million mansion” in Angra dos Reis.

A Sheet He was at the property again last Saturday (3), during the former president’s breakfast with supporters, an activity that he himself nicknamed “Mambucaba’s fence” — in allusion to the “Alvorada’s fence”, which were the meetings he promoted with supporters at the door of the official residence of the Presidency, in Brasília.

On the occasion, Bolsonaro spoke for more than two hours on topics such as niobium, Lula, Venezuela, tolls, how he could have become rich in the Presidency by benefiting from privileged information from the Central Bank, among other lectures.

He also praised the death of suspects by Rota (Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar, considered the elite troop of the São Paulo Military Police) in response to the murder of soldier Samuel Wesley Cosmo during a routine patrol.

The reporter identified himself at the entrance to Bolsonaro’s security and, in the end, also to the former president. The following day, Sunday (4), Bolsonaro repeated breakfast, but the entrance to the Sheetthis time, it was blocked.

In general, it was possible to verify that Bolsonaro’s beach residence had new windows and gates, replacing the old wooden ones, as well as new paint on the entire facade. Inside, there is a new barbecue area and a sauna.

Bolsonaro has been in Mambucaba since the beginning of January, in a routine, according to him, of sea, fishing and chatting.

Of the banana trees and other vegetation that existed on the property in 2017, only two jaboticaba trees remained.

Two jet-skis are also parked inside the residence, a blue one, owned by Bolsonaro himself, and a yellow one lent to him by businessman Renato Araújo Corrêa, launched by the former president candidate for mayor of Angra dos Reis.

These jet-skis were used by the former president and his family for fishing on the day that the Federal Police went to Mambucaba to search the house for belongings of councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicans), investigated in the case of the suspected existence of a “Parallel Abin” in his father’s management.

Bolsonaro was not the only one who carried out works on the street.

One of the neighbors built a pull-out right next door, with a full view of the former president’s leisure area.

Other neighbors stated that the two are friends and that, for now, there has been no friction. The house next door was empty while the Sheet was in Mambucaba.

Bolsonaro only stated that he did not complain to his neighbor, but that he considers the work “totally irregular”. “But I’m not going to say anything, let him come to an agreement with the Angra dos Reis City Council later.”
