The steering wheel Vidal returned to Brazil on Tuesday (21) for the final stretch of recovery from the meniscus injury in his right knee. The player has a contract with Athletico only until the end of the season, but the future is uncertain.
By law, Vidal must have his contract automatically renewed while he recovers from the injury. However, the parties can mutually agree to terminate the contract. The Chilean spoke to the press about his situation and said he will still talk to the club.

“It’s a good question. I hope, first, that I recover well. I’m going to talk to the staff, because I have a lot of affection and they have a lot of respect for me. They’ve helped me since I arrived. We’ll see. The important thing is to recover and then I’ll talk to the team,” he told the channel Monique Vilela.
Vidal suffered a knee injury in September, while playing for Chile in the qualifiers, and had to undergo surgery. Since then, he had been recovering in his country. Despite the final stretch of treatment, the Chilean should not be able to play in 2023.
“I recovered well, it was two months that helped me a lot, I was with my family. Now I have the last part of my recovery. I’ll stay here until the end of the year and I hope to recover to help the team. This week, I’ll be racing again and We’ll know how soon I’ll be back”, he added.
