A group of Venezuelans who live in Brazil staged a protest against the presence of the Venezuelan dictator, Nicolás Maduro, in Brazil, for the Meeting of Presidents of Latin America, this Tuesday (30). Maduro is accused of a series of crimes against human rights by the United Nations.

“[Maduro é] A human rights violator investigated by the International Criminal Court, responsible for the largest migratory exodus on the continent that reaches 7.5 million Venezuelans, who destroyed the country, tortured, murdered and arrested political opponents cannot be received by Brazil,” said Gabriela Álvarez, who participated in the protest.

For the Venezuelan who has lived in Brasilia for 24 years, “this visit is an insult to the more than 400,000 Venezuelans who live in this country”. Gabriela also says that the reception of the dictator by Brazil discredits the “memory of students and opponents killed at the hands of the dictatorship over all these years”.
