Project assists young Venezuelans who arrived in Manaus without life prospects

Manaus (AM) — Thirty young Venezuelan migrants and refugees will graduate, this Saturday, March 16, at 9 am, in the “Jóvenes en Acción” project, which provides professional training so that they can access opportunities in learning programs as minors and young apprentices. The event will take place at the headquarters of the Public Ministry of Labor of Amazonas and Roraima (MPT — AM/RR), located at Avenida Mário Ypiranga, 2,479, Flores neighborhood — North Zone of Manaus.

The culminating ceremony marks the end of the fifth class of this initiative, which has been transforming the lives of many young Venezuelan migrants and refugees in Manaus.

The project is carried out by the Civil Society Organization (OSC) Hermanitos, in partnership with MPT – AM/RR, the UN Agency for Refugees (UNHCR), the Secretariat of Labor Inspection (SIT), the Regional Labor Court of 11th Region and the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF).

“They are young Venezuelans who arrived in Manaus with no prospects in life, facing a series of prejudices and difficulties. By participating in the Jóvenes en Acción project, they take several training courses that prepare them for the world of work, so they can have their first professional experience. These are extremely important lessons that they will take with them for life,”

comments the CEO of Hermanitos, Tulio Duarte.

In addition to executing the project, Hermanitos also works to look for opportunities, by raising awareness among companies, to be able to open the doors for young people to access Minor and Young Apprentice vacancies.

“Participating in the Jóvenes en Acción project was transformative in my life, because it contains quality content that exceeded my expectations. The instructors, along with our teacher and psychologist Maria José, were exceptional from the beginning to the end of the course in all areas covered. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to interact with incredible and very talented colleagues, and to participate in special dynamics”,

said Eulimar Sarahi Belisario Barrios, who is 18 years old and participated in the project.
